Asia Cup Winners List: Every Champion From 1984 to 2025
India are the Asia Cup champions. They beat Pakistan by five wickets with two balls to spare in the 2025 final in Dubai on 28 September, with Tilak Varma’s unbeaten half-century seeing them home after Kuldeep Yadav’s four wickets had bowled Pakistan out for 146. It was India’s ninth Asia Cup, more than any other team.

Bangladesh have reached three finals (2012, 2016 and 2018) without winning, and lost the 2012 final to Pakistan by just two runs.
Finals worth remembering
2008: Ajantha Mendis arrives
The Sri Lankan mystery spinner took 6 for 13 in the final in Karachi as India were bowled out for 173, chasing 274. Sri Lanka won by 100 runs.
2012: Pakistan edge Bangladesh by two runs
In Mirpur, Bangladesh needed nine from the last over to win their first international trophy. They fell two runs short.
2023: Siraj’s six wickets
Mohammed Siraj took six wickets, four of them in one over, as Sri Lanka collapsed to 50 all out in Colombo. India chased it down in 6.1 overs without losing a wicket.
2025: the first India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final
Remarkably, the two rivals had never met in an Asia Cup final before 2025. Pakistan’s openers put on 84, but they lost their last nine wickets for 33, and India chased down 147 in the final over.
How the Asia Cup works
The Asian Cricket Council runs the tournament. Full members India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan qualify automatically, joined by teams that come through qualifying, such as the UAE, Hong Kong and Oman. The format follows the next world event: T20 before a T20 World Cup, 50 overs before an ODI World Cup.
